I was surprised to find California Brown Turkey figs for sale at the Kona Costco on 6-25-07. If the fruit was as good as the packaging, I might be worried! Closer inspection revealed a number of flaws that our Hawaii chefs would not accept. Damaged skin, evidence of mosaic virus, drops of hardened latex on the skin and many under ripe fruit.

Opening some of the figs revealed them to be brown and dry,(Fig Endosepsis).

I took five brix samples from the Calif. brown turkeys and 5 samples from Kona grown brown turkey figs.
